Description:
Objective
The institutional edifice of the European Union has continuously evolved over the years, and the Treaty of Lisbon crystalised some significant changes. New actors have emerged, with an impact on decision-making processes and judicial review. EU agencies have proliferated and their powers have increased. European supervisory authorities (ESAs) and national regulatory authorities (NRAs) now share the efforts to ensure harmonisation and compliance with EU law.
This seminar will analyse the impact of these ‘strange animals’ on the EU legal landscape.
Key topics
- The powers of national regulatory authorities;
- European supervisory authorities: harmonisation or centralisation?;
- EU agencies’ decision-making powers post-Lisbon;
- Meroni revisited: the evolving case law of the CJEU.
