Brulex Summer Cup - Information

The Brulex summer cup takes place on Sunday 3 June. Fifteen to twenty Brussels-based law firm teams will compete in the annual one-day 6-a-side football tournament.

Christoph Weling, a Linklaters associate and the member of the Brulex Organising Committee organising this year's event, explains more:

Last year's cup had a great atmosphere (and fantastic weather) and we hope to repeat that success this year.

Part of that achievement was because the event is set up to welcome partners and children as spectators. So this year the ever-popular children's bouncy castle returns and refreshments are available throughout the day, together with the lunchtime barbeque. This year, we will also have a DJ playing music throughout the day.

Many teams are participating (including A&O, Clifford Chance, Freshfields, Linklaters, Olympique Berquin, Skadden, Stibbe, and Van Bael & Bellis) and other teams are signing up as the event approaches. Each year we are welcoming newcomers to the event - it is not a prerequisite for teams to have participated in the Brulex Winter League to play in the summer tournament. So do get in contact if your firm would like to play and is new to Brulex.

Awards will be presented at the end of the day to the winners of the brulex summer cup, the Brulex winter League (2006-7) and the brulex Fair Play award.

Last year A&O beat Stibbe in a penalty shoot-out to become the winners. Come along and see what happens this year.

The summer sup is taking place on Sunday 3 June (10am to 5pm) at the MIVB/STIB recreation centre on Tweedekkerstraat/Rue de Biplan (near the Nato headquarters).
