Vinge expands competition practice in Brussels and Stockholm

Vinge reinforces its competition law practice in both Brussels and Stockholm.  Kristian Hugmark becomes the new resident partner in Brussels. He is recruited from the US law firm Howrey in Brussels. Simultaneously, Marcus Glader relocates as partner from Brussels to Stockholm.

Through the reinforcement, Vinge now has a team of six competition law experts in Brussels and nearly 30 in the firm in total. Following a stint at DG Competition, Kristian Hugmark for over seven years worked for one of the leading competition law practices in Brussels.  He joins Vinge at the turn of the year.  Says Kristian Hugmark:

“Vinge's offices in Brussels are already larger than our Nordic competitors'.  That gives the whole firm a competitive advantage.  As Vinge now broadens its competition practice and at the same time gives it more edge, Nordic companies can feel reassured that we are fully capable of handling any competition or EU law dossier in Brussels.”

Vinge was the first Swedish law firm established in Brussels just over 20 years ago.  The Brussels presence has boosted Vinge’s competition law practice, and demand continues to increase.  Says Marcus Glader:

“Our work load in Brussels increases not only in terms of transactions and related competition law aspects; we see an increased focus on strategic counselling to companies.”

“ With Marcus Glader Vinge’s competition law team in Stockholm grows from two to three partners.  Vinge will now have seven partners and approximately 30 lawyers with a focus on EU and competition law.  That makes us a strong player and gives us a strong foundation for the future”, says Carl Wetter, head of Vinge’s EU and competition law team.

Kristian Hugmark is 34 years, has law degree from Uppsala universities and has during 2010 inter alia advised on a major air transport merger as well as on the European Commission's first settlement of a cartel case.
