Winston & Strawn LLP today announced that it is taking the next step as a preeminent global antitrust and competition firm by opening a Brussels office. The new office is scheduled to officially open its doors by June 2013 and is the sixteenth global office for the firm and fifth in Europe.
The firm's Brussels office will be led by Peter Crowther, a prominent antitrust and competition lawyer whose practice focuses on European Union (EU) merger control, international and national cartels, state aid, trade/sanctions, free movement and all other aspects of EU competition law. Mr. Crowther joined Winston & Strawn's London office as partner in 2012.
"Brussels not only extends the firm's footprint in Europe, but the location puts Winston & Strawn at the forefront of European competition law developments and will add to our already strong global antitrust and competition practice," said Thomas Fitzgerald, managing partner, Winston & Strawn.
"The roster of work for the global competition practice continues to expand and the firm's decision to open a Brussels office is in line with expected growth," added Jeffrey Kessler, partner and chair of the firm's antitrust and competition practice. "Brussels already plays an important role in our practice and we are excited about the opportunity to provide a Brussels hub to support our already extensive global cartel defense and EU competition practice."
Winston & Strawn's EU competition practice is currently based in the firm's London and Paris offices and advises on all aspects of competition law including cartels, merger control, state aid, commercial arrangements, compliance, and EU trade sanctions.
