Global legal practice Norton Rose Fulbright has appointed EU competition partner Jay Modrall to its Brussels office. Jay joins from Cleary Gottlieb where he was a partner.
Jay’s practice focuses on EU and international competition law, particularly in relation to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and EU financial services law, acting for major investment banks, private equity groups and investment companies in relation to EU financial regulation.
Martin Coleman, global co-head of Norton Rose Fulbright’s Regulatory and Investigations practice, commented:
"We are delighted to have a lawyer of such calibre and experience as Jay joining our team in Brussels. Our clients tell us that regulatory issues - including competition law and financial services regulation - are high on their agenda of matters preoccupying them. Jay will add additional depth to our global team of over 100 competition lawyers and our strong financial services regulatory group."
Jay Modrall said:
"The global platform of Norton Rose Fulbright and the practice’s focus on regulatory support for their clients makes this an ideal platform from which to further build my practice."
Jay joined Cleary Gottleib in 1986 and became a partner in 1995, having advised clients in New York, Washington D.C. and Brussels and is a member of the Bars of New York, Washington D.C. and Brussels. Jay is a member of the American Bar Association and serves as Vice Chairman of several Antitrust committees.
