Sullivan & Cromwell Further Expands Its European Antitrust Practice, Götz Drauz Joins Sullivan & Cromwell

14th June 2017

Mr. Drauz joins Sullivan & Cromwell following a distinguished career at the European Commission as well as in private practice. At the European Commission in particular, Mr. Drauz led the Commission’s Merger Task Force and ultimately became Deputy Director-General in DG Competition. In private practice, most recently at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Mr. Drauz has advised clients on all aspects of EU and German competition law. Both in leadership positions at the Commission and later as lead counsel for clients, Mr. Drauz was responsible for many of the largest and most complex global transactions across a range of industries.

"Götz Drauz is one of the most experienced EU antitrust practitioners, combining unrivaled government experience from his over 25 years with the European Commission with excellence in client service," said Joseph C. Shenker, chairman of Sullivan & Cromwell. “I am delighted he has decided to join us. Having his and Renata Hesse's experience and insight as former enforcers on both sides of the Atlantic will be invaluable to our clients as they navigate the increasingly challenging and interconnected global merger clearance process."

Mr. Drauz practices in Brussels before the European Commission and European courts as well as before the German competition authority.
